Google Chairman Eric Schmidt came out and criticised education in britain, claiming the lack of children's passion for science, engineering and maths is holding back the country's chances of success in the digital media economy. Great news for one of the ducks as it was announced that our very own UX Designer, Neil Dawson has made it through to the final round of the Knight-Mozilla News Technology Partnership challenge. As previously reported, Neil has been designing an interactive visualisation which allows the user to quickly learn the basic facts behind a news story and how it has developed.

Neil was one of 20 learning lab participants to make it through to the next round in Berlin.
Neil will now be one of 20 learning lab participants who will be travelling to Berlin from September 26-30 to take part in five extraordinary days of hacking open tools for journalism. Neil will be joined by representatives from Zeit Online, Al Jazeera, the Boston Globe, the BBC and the Guardian. Cyber-Duck wish him all the best in the next round.
