Optima have an impressive portfolio of work. They design, plan and install absolutely stunning glass partitioning solutions for clients like Amazon, Thomson Reuters, Google and Siemens. We are delighted to have partnered with Optima for a variety of digital partnerships, since 2008. In 2012, they wished to bring the corporate website up-to-date to reflect their current business objectives, market position and advances in technology. We needed to modernise the established website to reflect the prestige of their brand, as renowned partitioning specialists.
Unify the look and feel across websites for international divisions of the Optima brand.
Optimise for a growing proportion of mobile and tablet users, gathering and tailoring the content for a responsive web design.
Create extensive back-end functionality to display a vast product catalogue and manage customer accounts.
Encourage architects to register accounts on the Optima platform.
Fortunately, Optima’s specialised work is reflected in the spectacular collection of photography they’ve amassed over the years. Naturally then, showing off their experience and products became central to our design. Inspired by tile-based websites like Pinterest, we set about producing a responsive website that featured lots of imagery; giving architects and designers a real insight into what Optima’s products and services could add to their next project.
But, we were conscious that an image-heavy design could affect performance, particularly for smartphone and tablet users on 3G / 4G connections.
So, we implemented a back-end solution to re-size and optimise images automatically on upload, so they loaded as quickly as possible across screen sizes.
Finally, the website features a member’s area where architects and designers could access exclusive content, including downloadable CAD drawings to help them specify their next project. It also includes a tool to allow members to quickly purchase Optima products and parts online.
The new website was carefully built to fit Optima’s current and future business objectives. For instance, Optima operate globally, in international markets from Australia to the Middle East. With this in mind, we built the website so it could be easily re-skinned for new international markets, but powered by a single CMS.
The Optima website is optimised for ever increasing levels of mobile traffic, as smartphone and tablet users have an experience that feels tailored to their needs. Since launch, we’ve seen thousands of new architects, designers and contractors sign up to gain access to CAD drawings, designer guides and other useful content.
The success of this modernisation follows previous achievements with Optima, including winning Best Use of a Website at the Construction Marketing Awards and a W3 Silver Award for Best Game or Application. We’ve helped them rank in the top three of Google search results, for twelve extremely competitive keywords.
