Prepare for Google’s “summer of fun” with the Penguin 2.0 update
Google’s head of Web Spam, Matt Cutts, announced this week that the world’s most widely used search engine is set to roll out the Penguin 2.0 algorithm update. Due “within the next few weeks”, the change is to penalise websites with poor quality back links. Cyber-Duck prevail at Google Campus Spring Hackathon
Two teams devised of Cyber-Duck’s elite designers and developers attended the Spring Hackathon, hosted at the Google Campus in London. In just 30 hours of solid programming and UI work, the teams managed to produce 2 fully functional prototypes and even picked up an award for their great work!
The CrimeLine App
The CrimeLine App was created by the Cyber-Duck team as part of the Spring Hackathon, hosted on Google Campus in London. Within just 30 hours of programming, “Team Awesome” managed to plan, design and build a fully functional application which displayed crime levels throughout the UK, using an interactive heat map.
GP Surgery Finder App
The GP Finder App was created by one half of the Cyber-Duck team as part of the Spring Hackathon, hosted on Google Campus in London. “Team WCL” (wireless connection lost!) designed and created a responsive web application which helps users locate their most convenient GP Surgeries to them based on travel time and selected preferred transport methods
Cyber-Duck ready for Digital Shoreditch
The sun is finally out and we are in May, for many top digital professionals that can only mean one thing, Digital Shoreditch is just around the corner. For the second year running Cyber-Duck will be well represented at the event. Matt Gibson and Ramon Lapenta will each be running workshops, sharing their knowledge, experience and tips for approaching responsive web design (RWD).

Designing better experiences
A couple of weeks ago, Danny Bluestone (Cyber-Duck’s founder and MD) and I ran a workshop at UX London, one of the biggest events in any user experience professional’s calendar. The event took place at the Trinity Laban Art & Dance Centre in East London, a fitting venue for the 3 days of creativity and learning which followed.
