Connect 2 Cleanrooms specialise in building modular cleanrooms: bespoke, clean environments that protect critical processes from disruptive contamination. They needed a new website that could reflect their brand, ethos and commitment to exceptional quality. Cyber-Duck was chosen to apply our accredited user-centred design experience; we developed a new Magento 2-based website that could aid their growth strategy.

Based in the UK, Connect 2 Cleanrooms is a global leader in cleanroom design and manufacture. C2C’s modular cleanrooms – including monobloc panel, hard and soft wall cleanrooms – are all produced in-house. They are a critical component in many sectors. Connect 2 Cleanrooms are relied on by clients to deliver quality solutions that meet the highest standards, like ISO 14644-1.
Cyber-Duck was chosen to demonstrate Connect 2 Cleanrooms’ excellence and innovation in cleanroom design and build by creating a stunning website that provides visitors with an enhanced experience. It must become a robust, scalable platform that could aid their ambitious growth strategy. Our objectives were to:
Produce a user-centred website that could increase leads for the business.
Develop a scalable CMS with an intuitive UX for their internal team to manage content in future.
Develop the Configurator: a tool for the sales team to create a quote for a new project, in an easy way.
UX and SEO strategy
First, we applied our accredited user research process to define users’ needs and goals, balanced against the business objectives. The team travelled up to Lancaster to map the risks, goals, personas and typical user journeys with Connect 2 Cleanrooms’ stakeholders.
These insights and first-hand user interviews fed into our recommended information architecture and persona matrix. The latter explored the audiences Connect 2 Cleanrooms needed to engage: their values, brand touchpoints, perception and ideal messaging.
Meanwhile, we helped Connect 2 Cleanrooms plan, audit, reshape and migrate the best content from the old website into the new. We conducted a meticulous SEO audit and keyword research so Connect 2 Cleanrooms could ensure their content was optimised for high quality search traffic.
As the art direction was developed, our designers moved from low-fidelity sketched prototypes to semi-functional prototypes. It included both the public-facing website and the login and dashboard areas for customers.
The final website draws on background videos, engaging icons and subtle animations to engage users with a clean, ‘science as motion’ feel. Our research revealed the market was indifferent, with aesthetically poor websites; this was how Connect 2 Cleanrooms could stand out.
Magento website development
Our developers built Connect 2 Cleanrooms’ new website with Magento 2; we provided a powerful content platform that could help their internal team to fulfil their goals.
Most notably, we developed the Configurator: an innovative tool to support Connect 2 Cleanrooms’ sales team during the quotation phase. It drove efficiencies and support to the sales team, as well as clarity to the end customers who could then access their quotes online.
Another transformative feature was a multi-language tool integrated with the website. As C2C continues to expand internationally, the UX and localised SEO of the website will receive a boost thanks to the fully translated German and Dutch version of the site.
In the end, we delivered a highly engaging website for C2C that featured a custom integration between C2C’s internal systems.
This will allow C2C to deploy focused and impactful marketing strategies in the future and will be pivotal for C2C's global expansion plans.
