Are you all set to sail into the 2020s? We’re excited about all the new decade will bring – advancements in AI, widespread adoption of CUIs and mobile payments, and continued growth at Cyber-Duck!

Sport England website on laptops.

Up first is a launch we’re really proud to share. Sport England asked us to develop their digital strategy. They wanted a high-impact website to communicate their mission and positioning. It was a huge project and a massive content lift.

We applied our trusted user-centred design process and collaborative agile approach, and helped them select a Drupal CMS. Check out the new site and our case study for more on the story.

Zjan Shirinian, head of editorial at Sport England, said, “Cyber-Duck’s expertise has really shone through. The team has guided and supported us every step of the way. We now have a website that truly reflects the Sport England of today.”

Thanks Zjan! We’re happy to say they have also engaged us for their next exciting project. See the Sport England case study.

2020 business plan

Once a year, our Ducks flock together for our annual business strategy presentation. We’re all operating within global uncertainty – and that’s set to continue, with a hard-to-predict US election and Brexit transition.

But I see so much positivity everywhere. There’s jumps forward in commercial space flight, satellite broadband and electric vehicles - and that’s just from Elon Musk.

Closer to home, new technology like automation, CUIs, AI and blockchain are moving beyond the hype. AI assistants, wearables and truly smart homes have truly gone mainstream.

This year, Cyber-Duck’s team will focus on self-improvement:

Self Improvement

Above all, Cyber-Duck has a democratic, collaborative and close-knit culture. I want us to focus on quality by design and how we’ll ‘grow and tell’, with a happy connected team.

Double win at the Drum Awards

Congratulations to our Growth Director, Siji Onabanjo, who was recognised in the Drum’s BD100, a spotlight on the UK’s top business development professionals. Those of you who know Siji know the energy and dedication he brings to all our work, so we’re thrilled by the accolade!

And we were delighted to be a Best Use of Technology finalist at the Drum Agency Business Awards for our work with Cabot Financial. We’ve partnered with Cabot for five years now and won a UXUK award with them along the way, so it was great to be recognised again for our most recent work, an app rooted in data-driven design and developed using our flexible agile approach.

Sharing our knowledge

Our ace marketing manager Sofia gave a talk at the Design Museum on SEO strategy and tactics. She also spoke about best practice when integrating email, CRM and social into your website. Her hit Drum article on zero-click search results is a must-read.

Meanwhile, Danny talked at City University about attracting and retaining talent. His key thoughts? Look for diversity, hire people smarter than you, create a knowledge culture and grow leaders from within. Oh, and take them out for a beer every now and then. (Thanks Danny!)

And here are some of our latest insights in The Drum:
