Sport England has been on the lookout for a new agency to help it implement a user-friendly digital strategy for its substantial website portfolio. After a competitive tender process, Cyber-Duck was chosen to deliver this strategy – and we’re really excited that the project is now underway!

Sport England looks after grassroots sport across England. Its ‘Towards an Active Nation’ strategy is all about supporting everyone in England, regardless of their age, background or level of ability, to take part in sport and physical activity and reap its health and social benefits. But an inspirational, informative digital presence to make its mission clear would be central to Sport England's future plans. The Sport England team team knew that an improved website portfolio was the only way to achieve this.

Now, after a competitive open tender process, Cyber-Duck will help enhance Sport England’s portfolio with a new, cohesive and exciting user experience.

Launched in 2016, Sport England’s new strategy focuses on increasing activity, especially among women and people in lower socio-economic groups. Sport England’s mission is to address the inequalities and transform sport and physical activity, putting customers at the heart of what it does – which is something we know a thing or two about here at Cyber-Duck.

A new strategy for Sport England

Sport England is past the halfway point of its four-year ‘Towards an Active Nation’ plan. As Sport England expands its reach and uptake, digital and accessible channels must be at the core of its strategy. And that’s where Cyber-Duck comes in.

Cyber-Duck was appointed from a competitive open tender process to support Sport England’s ambitious digital dreams. Our user experience team will redefine Sport England’s digital presence using our user-centred, evidence-based approach. We’re looking to improve the user journeys while consolidating and maintaining its portfolio of websites.

Our CPO, Matt Gibson said: “We’re delighted to be working with Sport England, and look forward to getting stuck into the challenge of delivering a more cohesive user experience across its digital presence.”

Everything must come together to encourage more people of all backgrounds to invest and participate in sport across the nation. The website serves as an informative resource for funding, facilities planning and building awareness of Sport England’s role.

All our work will be underpinned by robust, accessible, secure and thoroughly tested technical platform. Together, we have kicked-off the project in May 2019 and look forward to launching the final updates this year.

Our public sector experience

Sport England’s appointment of Cyber-Duck builds upon our team’s enviable experience in both the sports and public sector. We are currently working with the Commonwealth, Cabinet Office and Financial Ombudsman. Our team enjoys rationalising and streamlining communication channels into a cohesive content strategy, underpinned by research.

Take our work with the Bank of England, for example. Founded in 1694, the Bank of England’s mission is to maintain monetary and financial stability for the UK. But its previous website didn’t help people understand this in the past.

Using our accredited user-centred design approach, we designed a captivating and user-friendly website for the Bank. This was a key part of the Bank’s Vision 2020 strategy, which aims to communicate more effectively with the British public alongside specialist audiences. The Cyber-Duck team is looking forward to joining Sport England’s mission to drive everyone ‘Towards an Active Nation’ through an exciting user experience.
