Craig Gardner

Design Experience

Our Design Director, Craig hit the ground running with his professional career. He first joined Cyber-Duck as a User Experience Designer, while concluding studies in Multimedia Design, with the University of Hertfordshire. Graduating with a First Class and an impressive freelance portfolio, he rapidly rose to leadership level.

Craig applies a strong creative mindset across Cyber-Duck; championing the design team’s pursuit of imaginative, user-focused interfaces and visuals for clients and R&D products. Utilising his Project Management certification and creative background, Craig has tackled pressing business challenges for a range of clients, including Warmup and CH Hausmann.

He’s happy to get involved throughout the design process: from researching user requirements, through to interaction design, visual concepts, and campaign strategies. Craig’s grit, determination and passion for his trade resulted in a ‘Creative of the Year’ crown with the Wirehive 100 Awards, recognising the wealth of Southern talent.

Craig won the 'Creative of the Year' with the Wirehive 100 Awards in 2015, commending his unique artistic portfolio.

Sharing Inspiration

Leading the client creative designers and marketers, Craig constantly encourages close collaboration, personal development and thought leadership amongst his team. He began the internal ‘Flock’ meeting, which has become an integral part of our creative process: his team comes together to present digital trends, share ideas, and critique the inspiration behind our projects.

But, this doesn’t stop at the office doors. Craig enjoys encouraging young talented creatives: teaching digital design and holding workshops with his local school, universities and the Young Rewired State programme. He has volunteered for the BIMA D-Day mentorship scheme since 2013, bringing the best new talent for work experience.

Furthermore, he enjoys exploring the latest digital trends, experimenting with ideas as part of our Research and Development (R&D) commitment. He was the creative brains behind the Cuckoo Quack: transforming an antique clock into an online notification system, fusing with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Drawing on his love for films, Craig's currently exploring designing apps for television: creating 'You Might Like' to suggest your next favourite.

Craig enjoys restoring his 1967 Lambretta, attending ride outs and events with local scooter clubs.

Interests

Craig is a self-titled music nerd: attending music gigs, learning to play the drums, and taking over the office speakers. Out of the office, he enjoys trying out creative design ideas, making beard oil and watching (probably too many) films.
